Sometimes the only option is to replace the old with the new. When it comes to re-wiring properties there are many different options available. New work such as extensions and kitchens require designing and planning before and this is a service we offer.
If your existing consumer unit is out of date, or you are worried that it is unsafe then we can help. All our consumer units are installed to meet the latest wiring regulations and as part of a consumer unit change we will test the electrical installation in your house to make sure it is safe and sound for years to come.
When having a new heating system installed often a plumber will require an electrician to connect up the system. Also, we offer smart home products such as NEST and HIVE to make it easier to control your home and become more energy efficient.
ADDING & REPAIRING SOCKETS
Using the existing circuit it is possible to add, remove and re-locate sockets to better positions. This service allows for a room to become more flexible such as in a living room where there may be a need for sockets on the wall behind a wall-hung television.
ADDING & REPLACING LIGHTS & DOWNLIGHTS
Downlights are an excellent way to add more light and to help modernise a room. They can be added anywhere from kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and bedrooms. This can be achieved by using the existing lighting circuits and gives a modern and clean look.
REPLACING ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
When installing or upgrading fixed appliances such and cookers, electric heaters and hot water heaters, the equipment and circuits being used must be safely isolated, installed, tested, and re-energised to ensure both safety and function of the equipment fitted.

FITTING OF NEW SMOKE, HEAT & CO ALARMS
Smoke, heat & carbon monoxide alarms are available in both battery and mains powered models. These must be fitted in specific areas of dwellings, and tested regularly to ensure that the alarms are functioning correctly. I can advise and install alarms, and can even link them together to give extra warning in the case of a fire or gas leak.
FITTING OF NEW SWITCH & SOCKET FACE PLATES
The fitting of fresh socket and switch face plates is an affordable way to modernise and tidy up rooms with tired plastic face plates. There are many different types of face plates available such as polished chrome or even matt black.
FITTING & UPGRADING OF EXTRACTOR FANS
Extraction in domestic areas such as kitchens and bathrooms is important as it allows air carrying steam or smells to escape. Extractor units come in all shapes and sizes and can set to work with an overrun timer, with lights turning on and even with a humidity sensor in bathrooms and laundry rooms.

Using existing circuits it is often possible to install exterior lighting and power. Ideas such as brick lights, decking lights, motion detection security lights and waterproof sockets are all great ways of upgrading your existing installation to make your home look great and become more practical.

Many small household items such as shavers and electric toothbrushes require a shaver socket to charge. These can be installed easily and make charging these devices in a bathroom painless.
